Lampo Leong, PhD, Central Academy of Fine Arts; MFA, California College of the Arts, is an internationally acclaimed artist and currently a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a former Art Department Chair. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and has been named the Weiner Distinguished Professor at the Missouri University of Science & Technology. Leong has served as judge for over 20 art competitions and presented more than 160 lectures across the United States and Asia in universities such as UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Harbin Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, and University of Macau. Leong’s work has been featured in international art auctions, art expos, and in museums and galleries worldwide through more than 60 solo and over 300 juried/curated group exhibitions, including The Art of Writing in Germany, the Taipei International Modern Ink Painting Biennial, the 11th National Fine Arts Exhibition in China, and the International Contemporary Masters in the USA, receiving over 50 awards such as a Gold Medal Award at the Creative Quarterly international art competition in New York. Leong’s works can be found in more than 10 museum and over 100 notable corporate and private collections, including the Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Written Art Foundation in Germany, and the Guangdong Museum of Art, as well as public art projects in the Columbia City Hall and a 26-foot-diameter granite inset calligraphic medallion permanently installed in a San Francisco city park. Leong’s achievements have been documented in hundreds of reviews and publications worldwide, including the front cover of the New Art International in New York and the Creative Genius: 100 Contemporary Artists in London. In 1999, the San Francisco Mayor proclaimed November 19th to be Lampo Leong Day.
