The competition 2008 is a local photography contest organized by CENTER FOR CREATIVE INDUSTRIES (CCI). The contest aims to develop and raise the visibility of local creative talents, in the form of a competition and the resulting exhibition.

The call for entries theme of Photography Competition 2008 is "BEYOND THE EYE --- Daily Life". All submitted images are created to represent the previous or current daily life of Macau which is observed by the participants. The contest is different from the general photo competitions as a piece of digital or analogue color photography is only the departing point to the excellence of the final product, going beyond it, and focusing on the printout of original photos enhanced by the MASTERY OF MANIPULATION TECHNIQUES, which can include the use of any software program, hand applied coloring or emulsions, mixed media and even making an image that merges photography with graphic, drawing, painting, collage and any other medium.
Results must be presented in digital form and hard copy. Hence, evaluation of the entries must be emphasized on the quality of the edited final image.

The competition is open to all Macau residents (permanent and temporary) that must be over 16 years of age on 31 st August 2008.
Only individual entries are allowed and each entry must carry six or eight images presented as an exhibition series with a unifying concept. The judges are seeking dynamic and distinguishing images which portray a compelling narrative.
Only photographs in color are acceptable. Images must fall into the criteria of the photo contest theme and print on glossy photo paper.

The jury, consisting of respected photographers, visual arts and publishing professionals as well as the organizers and sponsors, will base their decisions on the series of images submitted and designate winners for the First Place, Second Place and Third Place , and the two special awards named MACAU BUSINESS award and CANON award. The conceptual quality, group coherence and innovativeness will be the main criteria for the final selection.
