In the spirit of fostering Macau’s Creative Industries, bringing Macau’s creative people in the fields of sound design and moving image design together and encouraging exchange between sound and moving image designers in Macau and the rest of the world, CREATIVE MACAU, in collaboration with Panda Artist Management Ltd., the Macau Association of Audio-Visual “CUT” and LOCO CreativeWorks, is proud to announce the 1st ANNUAL WORLDWIDE SOUND & IMAGE CHALLENGE 2012 "TWO SENSES ONE VOICE".
The competition offers professionals and amateurs with skills in the field of moving image design the opportunity to form production TEAMs with their counterparts possessing skills in the field of sound design.
Moving image designers with skills including, but not limited to, video editing, motion graphics, animation and visual effects processing, as well as sound designers with skills including, but not limited to music composition, recording, sound editing, mixing, mastering, synthesis, sampling, sound effects and Foley design, are encouraged to participate and seek out creative partners to form production TEAMs.
LOCALS: TEAM anchor must possess a valid Macau Resident ID Card or Macau “Blue Card” Work Permit. She/He must be the copyright owner of the submitted work.
OVERSEAS: TEAM anchor must be the copyright owner of the submitted work.

The CHALLENGE accepts proposals from PRODUCTION TEAMs consisting of 1 to 8 creative individuals. The TEAMs are challenged to create an audio-visual short, from 90 seconds to 3 minutes in length, designed to communicate the TEAM’s proposed message. The choice of theme is wide open, but the short must communicate a clear message to society. Examples would be a “Message Campaign” or “Public Service Announcement” or “Advertisement”.
Works may be in any language. All works must be subtitled in English.
Registration must be submitted in English.
Works must have been produced within the years 2010-2012 and may be published or unpublished. Works may not have been previously screened at CREATIVE MACAU - Centre For Creative Industries.

CONTENT GUIDELINES

IMPORTANT: The short must convey the same message submitted by the TEAM during registration in their Proposal Abstract. Works will be judged on communication and intelligibility of message, and shortcomings in these criteria may result in disqualification.

Works may be in any language. All works must be subtitled in English. Registration must be submitted in English.

Works must have been produced within the years 2010-2012 and may be published or unpublished. Works may not have been previously screened at CREATIVE MACAU - Centre For Creative Industries.
All submissions must be delivered in duplicate on 2 DVDs formatted as data (No Video DVD’s please). The TEAMs are challenged to create an audio-visual short, from 90 seconds to 3 minutes in length

Submissions must be in HD format to be eligible for winners’ gala and cinema screenings. The quality of the final render (visible fields, etc.) will be an asset in the evaluation of the submitted work.
RIGHTS CLEARANCE AND ATTRIBUTION
A TEAM incorporating into their own work any audio or visual material legally owned or copyrighted by a third party must submit a written letter of consent from each third party concerned and attach it to their submission. Discovery by the Organisers of any uncleared third party material used in a submitted work will result in disqualification.
Any third party material, copyrighted or not, must be clearly and completely cited in the on-screen credit sequence of the submitted work.
LIMITED RELEASE TO ORGANISER
By registering in the 1st ANNUAL WORLDWIDE SOUND & IMAGE CHALLENGE 2012 “TWO SENSES ONE VOICE”, the author(s) of the work grant to the Organisers the right to upload their submission to Youtube.com or another similar online video platform, as required for the online Public Favourite Award voting system and for future promotion of the competition.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION
Applicants should respect the creative labour of other people and their intellectual property rights. Anyone making use of audio, visual or audiovisual material without the copyright owner’s consent may have broken the law and may have to deal with legal consequences.
There are many types of copyrights and licenses in the world today, varying from “all rights reserved” to “no rights reserved”, with many shades in between.
