In everyday language, we often unintentionally use tautologies but in art, they become a powerful and inspiring expressive technique. This exhibition explores the possibilities of “tautology”: is it a limitation or a liberation? Is it meaningless repetition, or a self-affirmation with hidden meanings?

In language, “tautology” manifests as statements that repeat a concept with different words, such as “free gift” or “repeat one more time”. In logic, the symbol “⊤” represents a true statement that relies solely on internal logic, independent of external conditions. These statements may seem empty, but they contain a “variant of repetition”: how does meaning shift across different contexts?

In art, repeated presentation of elements challenges our expectations of “meaning”, prompting us to question: Is understanding always built upon repeated symbols and language? Perhaps, only through repetition can we perceive subtle differences.

This exhibition gathered artists who used various media to present “tautology”, challenging the freshness of language and imagery, and inspiring diverse perspectives. We hope to find depth within repetition, rethinking the essence of “meaning”, and discovering ourselves in simplicity.
