Chung Wai Kai

Chung Wai Kai was born in Hong Kong. In his early years he began sketching, and painting both with pastels and watercolors. In 1984 he moved to Taiwan and became interested in traditional Chinese art. He devoted much research to the art of calligraphy and seal cutting, and sought to learn the principles underlying traditional painting. From 1988 onwards he studied modern Western art. He sought to express themes of life through abstract mediums. Many of his artworks have been exhibited overseas and in 2002 he won first prize at Beijing International Art Exposition.
