Yao Mou In

Yao Mou In is an artist born in Macau and have lived in both the United Kingdom and the United States. She studied Studio Art in New York University from 2019-2020 and transferred to Rhode Island School of Design a year after, currently in Glass and Painting BFA programme. She is in the Art Study Subsidy Programme and have been receiving the Honour Student Prize from Rhode Island School of Design since 2021. She has joined exhibitions in both Macau and the United States, including Macau New Woman Contemporary Art Exhibition (2019) and Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale (2021).

Her subject matter mostly concerns the concept of absurdity and humor, investigating social relationships through the lens of abstraction and collage. Under the rapid technological advancement, complexity within communities and individuals have risen accordingly. Mou In refocuses her subject matter onto metamorphic objects that can resemble stories by themselves, where a collage of symbolism can replicate conflicts and mysteries between struggles.
