Edgar A. B. Martins

Portuguese by birth, Edgar Martins grew up in Macau, China, where he published his first novel, “Mãe, diexa-ma fazer o pino”. His photographic work questions the involvement of various historical and contemporary studies in the field of urban representation. He has exhibited extensively throughout Asia and Europe and has received numerous awards for his photographic and literary work. His latest book, “Black Holes & Other Inconsistencies” was awarded the Thames & Hudson and RCA Society Book Prize. A selection of images from this series was also awarded the Jerwood Photography Prize. Martins’ work has been featured in various periodicals, and can be seen in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Photographer’s Gallery, and the Portuguese Centre of Photography.

Established in April 2002, The Moth House is committed to publishing a wide range of photographic and artistic work by emerging artists from Britain and abroad.
