Armelle de L.

Armelle Le Caruyer de Lainsecq born in Paris in 1956.

Being student of sculptor Le Nantec, she became his associate. At the bygone age of 18 she married him.

In 1983, the couple decided to establish a factory, in Rua dos Pescadores, where Jacques le Nantec’s works would henceforth be made.

Armelle was involved with numerous international art fairs: Frankfurt Messe, New York Art Expo, Singapore Art Fair, Ateliers d’Art Paris etc. where the sculptures were exhibited every year.

In 2005, she opened an art gallery in Rua de Sao Paulo called Vent d’Est Vent d’Ouest, where Chinese and European artists were exhibited successively.

In 2006, she published her first photography book, “Macao, c’est rigolo!”, loaded with her connotatively humourisitic observations.

The Gallery was then replaced by Rua do Lilau’s “Secret Museum”.

In 2010, Armelle published her second book, “MacaO… my gods!”, devoted to the observance of ancestral cults in popular streets.

Her third book “Macao Illusions” , pubished in Nov 2011, is a lot different, as, in a series of photomontages it gives free rein to the production of improbable situations in locations that we here all know of.

‘Macau Illusions’ by Armelle

21st June — 10th July, 2012

This photography exhibition accompanies Armelle’s third book’s publication, exclusively consecrated to Macao, like the previous ones. This time, she devotes herself to imaginary visions destined to make us smile… perhaps even make us […]
